Donner Party by Ellen Rosa
Mrs. Ellen Rosa describes how members of her Rhoads family lead the rescue to the Donner Party. Mrs. Rosa is a descendant of the Rhoads and Sheldon families of the Cosumnes River Valley and has done extensive research and authored several articles and books on the subject of the first European settlers in the area.
EG History - Part 1 by E. Pinkerton- Native Peoples to 1840
In March 2017, long time area educator, historian and author Mrs. Elizabeth Pinkerton presented a detailed summary of the history of Elk Grove to the membership of the Elk Grove Historical Society. Louis Silveira assisted Mrs. Pinkerton with her presentation. The Foundation was there to capture her presentation and has produced seven episodes from her discussion from Native Peoples to 2017.
Land Grants by Mark Davidson
In 2018, the Linda Mae Mahon Lema Foundation recorded a general meeting of the Elk Grove Historical Society where local Early-California historian Mark Davidson was a guest speaker. In his presentation, Mark shares the story of how title to many thousands of acres of land was granted by the Spanish and later the Mexican governments to local residents. These land grants covered areas we now know as Sacramento, Elk Grove, Folsom, and beyond.
